Get to know your house

House Gua uses the building’s sitting direction to place the eight qualities into physical sectors of the home.

A browser compass knows direction but cannot reliably track indoor movement. The guided survey creates an approximate north-aligned schematic, and you can correct every room manually.

In Eight Mansions, house type is based on the sitting direction, opposite the facing side. The facing side is usually the more active, open or yang façade—not automatically the main door.

About this tool

Tradition, privacy and limits

This app applies traditional Eight Mansions personal and house Gua tables. Its detailed activity and room suggestions are modern interpretations designed to make the categories practical.

Facing direction is not the same as a house sector. The personal compass tells you which way the top of the phone—and ideally your face or body—is pointing. House Gua describes physical areas relative to the building centre.

House-map note: the room survey records centre points, bearings and approximate distances. It is not an architectural plan, and rooms that cross sector boundaries need a real floor plan for closer analysis.
